Summer Sips & Smiles: Kids in Charge of Thermomix Lemonade
This weekend, the kids had a great time setting up their own lemonade stand, perfect for a hot, sunny day! They love using our Thermomix to make lemonade—it’s simple, fun, and they’ve really gotten the hang of it. Not only was it a fun activity, but it also became a learning opportunity for the kids and their friends who joined in. The Thermomix is easy for them to use, with precise controls that make the whole process safe and straightforward. They felt like junior chefs, and I’m confident in letting them use it. It’s a great way to teach kitchen skills while having fun, and when they get to enjoy the lemonade they made and share it with others, it adds an extra sense of pride.
Zest to Impress: Whole Lemon Lemonade in Thermomix!
When I first learned how to make lemonade with the Thermomix, I was surprised to find you can use the whole lemon, rind and all. Since then, making lemonade with the Thermomix has been a game changer. It’s quick, easy, and the results are fantastic. Just toss in the whole lemons, skin included, and watch as the Thermomix turns them into a refreshing drink in no time. In just a few moments, you’ll have a pitcher of lemonade full of zesty flavour and a natural, vibrant colour.
Some of the benefits of using the whole lemons:
- Nutrient-Rich: The lemon peel is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, contributing to a healthier and more nutritious beverage by adding more fibre and vitamin C to your drink.
- Natural Aroma: The oils in the lemon peel provide a natural fragrance that enhances the overall sensory experience of your lemonade.
- Natural Colour: Using the lemon peel can even impart a subtle colour to your lemonade, giving it a more appealing and natural hue without the need for artificial additives.
- Intense Flavour: The lemon peel contains essential oils that add a more robust citrus flavour, making your lemonade more flavourful and aromatic.
- Less Waste: Using the whole lemon, including the peel, reduces waste and maximizes the lemon’s flavour and nutrients. As well, you can actually save the lemon remnants and make lemon cake with it.
The Hidden Gem Behind Pink Lemonade’s Colour Splash
Making pink lemonade is surprisingly simple, and you don’t need any artificial food colouring. Just blend some raspberries or purple cabbage with the lemons, and you’ll get that beautiful, natural pink hue. Plus, it’s a great way to boost the drink’s nutritional value, as both raspberries and purple cabbage are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are good for your health.

Ingredients:
- 2 whole lemons, washed and halved (including peel)
- 1/2 cup or 100g granulated sugar
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries or a small piece of purple cabbage (for the pink hue)
- Ice cubes (optional)
- Fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions for the Thermomix:
- Place the sugar into the mixing bowl and grind for 10 seconds at speed 10.
- Add the lemons and raspberries/purple cabbage (if you want the pink hue) and hit Turbo to chop everything up. Takes only 2 seconds.
- Add 4 cups of water to the lemon mixture in the Thermomix.
- Blend all the ingredients together on speed 4 for about 10 seconds until well combined and the mixture turns a vibrant pink colour.
- Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice as needed.
- Using the simmering basket, strain the lemonade into a pitcher or some glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices if desired, and serve immediately. If you’d like your lemonade chilled, you can add ice cubes. Enjoy your refreshing homemade Thermomix Pink Lemonade!
